A New York pre-seed fund backs founders solving health, wealth and planet problems for billions. Its thesis is sharp; its story isn’t. It asked us to fix that.

Fairbridge Park is a New York venture fund that writes early checks into founders solving the most basic human problems, health, wealth and the planet, for the billions of people most companies ignore. This month it hired Buena to sharpen its story and rebuild its brand.

A sharp thesis in a dense deck

David Tswamuno founded Fairbridge Park in 2021. Its portfolio includes Sphere, the fossil-free retirement platform that has been a Buena client since its launch, along with Giving Credit and Forte. The fund calls its territory the resilience economy: the biggest problems of our time belong to the underserved billions, and the startups that solve them stand to earn the biggest rewards.

Fairbridge Park, as we start

  • 2021the year the fund was foundedDavid Tswamuno started Fairbridge Park in New York.
  • $500Kinitial checks at pre-seed and seedThe fund invests at the earliest stages, when a founder’s idea most needs a backer.
  • 3problem areas: health, wealth, planetThe core human needs Fairbridge Park backs founders to solve for underserved people.

Caught between two camps

The thesis is sharp. The brand isn’t making the case. Fairbridge Park is classical venture, but it sits between two reputations, and its dense decks leave people to guess which side it is on.

  • Traditional VC

    Reads as profit over people.

  • Impact VC

Reads as charity, with weaker returns for feel-good ones.

  • Fairbridge Park

Neither, and it needs a story that says so.

So we are starting where every rebrand should, with the argument: what the fund backs, who it backs, and how it differs from both camps. The name, the look and the voice come after.

What came next

The positioning boiled down to one equation, profits equal impact, and the mission to four words: We unlock the big. We dropped a word from the name, so Fairbridge Park became Fairbridge, and built the mark around a ribbon of colored lines that weaves, loops and bridges technology and the earth. The voice took its cue from the founders the fund backs: garage, gritty, underestimated.

A fund that backs underestimated founders shouldn’t be underestimated itself. That is the job.
