Nightjar is the social benefit enterprise spun out of the conservation nonprofit RESOLVE to build and scale TrailGuard AI, a hidden camera that spots people, vehicles and animals and sends real-time alerts to rangers. Buena built the Nightjar brand narrative and tagline, the identity and the nightjar.tech website that launched the company in 2025.

Rangers guard huge landscapes, and camera traps only show the past

Rangers guard huge landscapes with small teams. Ordinary camera traps only show what happened after the fact, when the animal is already gone.

RESOLVE, the conservation nonprofit, had built TrailGuard AI. It is a hidden camera that spots people, vehicles and animals on the device and sends real-time alerts to rangers.

It spun out Nightjar, a social benefit enterprise, to build and scale it. The new company needed a story to rally behind, a voice, and a site that could sell a $799 camera to park managers.

Nature is watching, and so are we

Our brand narrative starts from an old proverb: character is what you do when no one is watching. Nature sees us at our worst, prowling in the dark and taking what isn't ours.

But nature also sees us at our best: rangers standing guard over vast spaces, risking life and limb. Nightjar is technology that brings out the best in humans, and the line says it plainly. Nature is watching.

The site line, Seeing is protecting, carries the idea into the product. Night-vision art direction puts visitors inside the camera's view, with detection boxes on elephants, chimpanzees and a logging truck.

A dark, cinematic site that sells a $799 camera to park managers

We designed and built nightjar.tech, a dark, cinematic site. Every section feels like looking through the lens at night.

It walks through what makes the camera different, from onboard AI to battery life and speed. It explains the Nightjar IQ alert dashboard and takes pre-orders.

RESOLVE announced the new brand and site in July 2025. Its announcement introduced Nightjar as the future of TrailGuard.

  • Onboard AI

The camera spots people, vehicles and animals itself, then alerts rangers.

  • Nightjar IQ

The dashboard where rangers receive and review alerts.

  • Pre-orders

Park managers can order the $799 camera straight from the site.

TrailGuard's alerts have helped rangers catch poachers before they kill

TrailGuard AI was named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2023, before our work began. It is used in more than 25 protected areas across Asia, Africa and South America.

In India's tiger reserves its alerts have helped lead to poacher arrests, and trials there reported 98.8% detection accuracy. RESOLVE says its first field test in East Africa led to 30 arrests.

Those results belong to RESOLVE and the rangers. Our part was making sure the company behind the camera launched with a story as strong as the product.

Nature is watching.
